Curriculum guide relections
Write a reflection, a few sentences (3-4) for two of three of the following from the curriculum guide(1)1st paragraph teaching philosophy, 2)Missing work and late work policy, 3)Student responsibilities section.) You can pick any two of the three you wish to respond to. Make sure you have your name down at the bottom to take claim for your work please.

i think its great that you are going to help us become better people! I hope i do very well in math. i really hope i can get through the project alone because i usually work with a partner. working alone i do great work but with other i do amazing work.

i think that it is true that every student should have the responsibility to bring in work on time. I do think it is fair that they have to make up for all the work they missed. But i do think its a little unfair if the kid was sick just for one day but he had a boat load of home work to finish and he only has one more day to do it, then the teacher wont take it....maybe.

I strongly agree that each student should be responsible for the work that he/she missed while being absent. Also that he/she gets the amount of days they were absent to turn in missing work. But what I must disagree on is that I think you should except late work, but lower their grade not say they failed the assignment. However there should still be a punishment for example they will have detention or any other punishment you think is appropriate. It can be an light or heavy punishment depending on the student and on the situation.

When I become a better problem solver in math, I will do better in other subjects too. Like when you are using PEMDAS you learn to streach your problems out to solve them. I think it is important to build team work because if you have a job in which you have a partner you need to know how to work with them. I agree that you also need to work independently because if you can't work alone what are you going to do during a test.

I am very excited for you to be teaching us this year. I really like that you are going to make us work in groups because I always had to work on that because i work better independently and now I will have the chance to work on it. I also cant wait to come out of your class at the end of the year a hopefully be a better person. hip hip hooray for Mr.Daws math class!

I agree that you should be in your seat with the right materials on time because you could miss something important while you were gone or you couldn't write what you needed to. I also think that it is important to turn in the homework you missed so when you get older you get in the habit of always getting your stuff turned in on time. It is also important to get involved in class activities because it will help to have notes to study from for tests and quizzes. I also belive that it is important to understand that all the school rules apply in math class because if you didn't know all the rules apply in math you might break some of the rules.

i think that it is true that every student is responsible for his or her work but i think we should we have at least two days if we are gone for one day. because there is soooo many different sobjects that we will have tons of homework + the homework for that day. That would i think be way to much especially for 6 grade.

i think that it is very helpful to have a teacher who likes his students and i willing to help them with everything that they have problems with. even though it is a class i belive that u will make it very fun. we have to respect the rules and also fallow them so that is we can make the teacher happy.

3. I agree that students should be in class on time because i can imagine how hard it is for a teacher to wait for them if it isnt the best thing for a student as well. What i also agree with is that if students were sick they should do their work and bring it in as soon as possible because not only it is hard for the teacher to check things but also for the student to be organized and have good grades. What i specifically liked when i read the paragraph is that if we cant catch up with what your saying or telling to the whole class we can tell you to slow down or anything, so we can understand about what you are talking about.
ReplyDelete2. I read the writing for number two and i agree with the part where you said that the work may not be accepted by a teacher if it comes too late. I like that part because a student just like an adult has to be responsible for their stuff and it is fair that the teacher says when something is due and the student has to respect it.
1.(i know i shouldnt do it but i wanted to) I like the way you said that you want every student to be better when they come out of your class and i like the way you teach us becaus eit is not boring.I like that part becaus ein my old school teachers would talk a lot and talk and it was boring and i believe that in that way a student cant learn something even if it is important.My hope is that i will learn new things in math and will love it!

ReplyDelete1.I think that it is great that you want us and that you will help us to become better people. Math is the subject you will teach us but along the way you will help us with other things.
2. I think the rules for the missed classes are great. I don't think it is right to blame a student if he or she is ill or went on a short break, so letting them have enough days for the assignment is really fair.

I think that you should be on time and be prepared.If your absent you should make up for what you missed and have the same amount of days as it was given for the assignment when you weren't absent.

Missed Classes
ReplyDeleteI realy think that the the rules for missed classes are realy good fore the school. 1. Because you should be on time in the classroom when you need to be and not mesing around in the hallway with your locker and talking with other people. 2. I realy think that anyone can get to class on time if they try. 3. I think that me and my classmates should be handing in our work in time and the teachers not having to weary about the work that we didn't tern in.
Student Responsibility
I think that the student responsibility is the mane responsibility of being in middle school. The responsibility of a middle school student is very easy if you follow correctly. If not, then there is going to be a tough year ahead for those people.

ReplyDeleteFirst, I want to say that it's good that you want to teach us how to solve math problems. Math is very important for all of us because we use it every day. Secondly, it is also very important for us to learn how to work together and to become a good team member.
Missed classes
Next I want to comment on your strickness in catching up missed work.It will not be good to miss your classes.

Missing Classes:
ReplyDeleteI think that students should never miss class. But if they do miss, they should have a reasonable explanation for beeing late.If the person is 1-3 minutes late, that should not be a problem, but if they are 10 minutes late, then that is a proble#
Student Responsibilities:
Itis really important that a student is responsibel and knows their responsibilities. Responsibilites that we have in shool is mostly bringing supplies and doing homework. A responsible student should be neat and should be responsible about their belongings.
First paragraph:
ReplyDeleteI truly think that your math classes will help me with my problem-solving,especially because i come from a Serbian school. We did things in a another way. I think you are absolutely right that we are gonna become a better person by learning through your math classes.
Missed classes:
I think that when a student is absent for a week, giving him/her a week for finishing homework is a good way to keep that student busy and that student has an idea of what is going on in class.

ReplyDeleteI think it is fair that if you miss work you have a day to finish it but I think it should be 2 days rather then 1 day.I also disagree with the homework if you don't do it is 10 percent off,I would rather be in detention for a week,but it is our responsibility to finish our homework.

ReplyDelete1.Nice wording! I like how say "attack all of life's problems". I shall follow your rules till my end. They are reasonable enough to call them "very fair"
2. Gulp! I wouldn't like to be sick or late then! Like Alek, I would prefer two days rather than one, but I will always try to be prepared.
3. Very, Very fair and will mean that following these rules you respect others around you at the same time! Easy multitasking.
